Poem: Red Tears

I have once
swum
in a river stained with red tears.
I have once
sat raw in the dust,
melting into myself.
I have once
— almost — sunk into the mud,
at the echo of a name, a glance, your glance.
I have
awoken many times,
been many times,
been born many times.
And yet,
in the end, always
walked my path.

Ich bin schon einmal
geschwommen
in einem rotgetränten Fluss
Ich bin schon einmal
roh im Staub gesessen
und dabei in mich selbst geschmolzen
Ich bin schon einmal
– fast – in Schlamm versunken
Beim Echo eines Namens eines Blicks deines Blicks
Ich bin
viele Male erwacht
viele Male gewesen
viele Male geboren
Und doch
letztendlich immer
meinen Weg gegangen.
