Poem: New Year

Woven into darkness,
into trees and the cries of birds,
sunk in the earth, in bark, in leaves,
and the sludge of this night.
My heart in the mist,
the wind drifts toward morning.
I turn and see a flicker—
I think I have found myself again.

in Bäume und Vogelgeschrei
Versunken im Boden, in Rinde, in Laub
und dem Schlick dieser Nacht
Mein Herz im Nebel
der Wind treibt nach Morgen
Ich drehe mich um und sehe ein Flackern
Ich glaube ich habe mich wiedergefunden.
