Tara Harris
Tara Harris is a contemporary intuitive artist that paints and draws otherworldly
landscapes embedded in memory.
She studied fine art in Newcastle – Upon – Tyne graduating in 1991 with a
specialism in print making. After gaining a PGCE in Education in 1993, she
championed the importance of creativity in the curriculum – gaining several Arts
Council awards. Her writing appears in the book :Teachers and Young Researchers
in Action.
Since 2023, loss of a loved one and increasing caring duties have been catalysts for
Tara to create art. Her work takes a ethereal realistic approach as she creates
mystical landscapes and seascapes. She takes inspiration from the fluid lines and
mark making of Korean art which is defined by its quiet inner harmony.
Taking an intuitive approach, Tara feels her way through a piece until she is happy
with its visual energy. Drawing on her printmaking background, she focuses on
intricate patterns which surface through detailed lines. This way of working,
produces artworks that are emotionally charged and personal.
She has exhibited her work in group shows since 2024, including at the Royal
Cambrian Academy and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. She is received an
Emerging Woman Artist award from Arts to Hearts Project and is published in their
books ‘Artists on the Rise’ and ‘Time and Memory’. A recently commissioned artwork
from Solihull Core entitled Surreal Solihull and with more group shows planned
illustrates that Tara is promising talent.
