Salmon memories
of a lifetime—
of source and pulse and blue,
of the place etched into him
like a map,
guiding him back
like a sleepwalker
to where he was born.

To slip gently into the black
mist of eternity.

I, too, long to return.
But the past is a lost land.
The now must always be rediscovered—
gliding, pushing, drifting through days
with thirst for tomorrow
and for your hand.
